At the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove, representatives from School District 26 gave a presentation to the club membership.  The focus of the presentation was the financial stability of the district and the overall student performance scores for the past five years.

Board members Christopher Spoerl and Julie Jette joined with District Superintendent Brian Coleman to review the financial history of the district since 2005.  The literature that was provided showed that between fiscal year 2005 and FY10, the district's expenses outpaced its revenues.  However, over the past two years, the financial outlook for the district has improved dramatically.  Superintendent Coleman attributes that improvement to a successful referendum, the board's evaluation and implementation of responsible cost savings measures, a dedicated staff of educators and a deep-rooted group of dedicated parents.

Of particular notice is that during this period of time, the Overall Student Performance for the district has remained significantly above the state levels.  That's good news for everyone living with the boundaries of District 26.
