Algonquin Township Highway Commissioner, Bob Miller, was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove.  In addition to being responsible for the maintenance of over 55 miles of roadways, Bob talked about the many programs offered by the Township for the constituents living within its boundaries.
Bob's discussion focused on the recycling programs that have been instituted over the past years.  As pointed out by Bob, Algonquin Township has the only township program with the state for paint recycling.  The paint that is collected each month is redistributed for use with three to four thousand gallons being given away annually.  The township also offers recycling of clothing, textiles, used oil and electronics just to mention a few of the programs that benefit the environment and saves the taxpayers money.

One of the most popular programs offered is tree branch recycling.  Branches that are dropped off at the township office are double shredded and are available at no cost to the residents of the township.  As with most of the programs offered, this one takes place on the last weekend of the month.  To learn about these programs and to verify the dates they are offered, visit the Algonquin Township Highway Department website at http://www.algtwsp.com.
