Kickoff donation for the 2020 annual Hoops for Hearts campaign.
Every year the Heritage Lakes Elementary School Physical education teachers, staff, and students participate in a good health/well being fundraiser called Hoops for Hearts.
The children play various games set up at stations that are used to encourage physical exercise and good heart health while raising money for the American Heart Association research.  The Rotary Club of Carol Stream makes a monetary donation to get the campaign started.  Originally, the campaign was started here due to the death of a student in 3rd grade at the time who died of a genetic, undiagnosed heart ailment.  Many strides have been accomplished in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood heart disease since that time. The program is jointly sponsored by SHAPE America and the American Heart Association. The program promotes physical activity, heart healthy living, and community service. It was a nice way to join the students in a little physical activity during the day!
