Last week we were happy to see former club member Judy Kristen - she remains a Rotarian, with her club in North Mecklenburg North Carolina. She exchanged her banner with Past President Ryan who was running the meeting last week. Our speakers were Dr. Michael Connolly, Superintendent for School District 21 and Mary Werling, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations for the district. They made a presentation about the upcoming referendum question on November 6: Shall the Board of Education of Wheeling Community Consolidated School District Number 21, Cook County, Illinois, alter, repair, renovate and equip school buildings and improve the sites thereof, including to provide for secure entrances and other security systems, air conditioning, renovation of instructional spaces to enhance learning and accommodate full day kindergarten, energy efficiency, infrastructure and other capital improvements, and issue bonds of said School District to the amount of $69,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof? |
This year we are pleased to jointly host Dylan from Taiwan with the Wheeling Club as our youth exchange student for the year.
