Memories of Member Pat Johannes
This past week we said goodbye to a very devoted and active member of our club, Pat Johannes.  Pat was a person who always gave of herself to others, during her long career in education and as a volunteer for Rotary and at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Palatine.  She went on a service trip with our club to Ak' tenamit in Guatemala, served as chair of our scholarship committee and was always willing to help at our events.  Our club has made a donation to her designated charity, but if you also would like to donate in her memory, you can give to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 W. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067 - or for an online donation,  click here
She will be missed.
Join Our Club for an Environmental Project May 8th
Outreach Committee has the following event coming up:
Saturday, May 8th - Environmental project - Plant Green Lake Park!
Meet at noon at the parking lot for Green Lake Park, 1101 Green Knolls Dr. and bring work gloves if you have them, insect repellent and sunscreen if necessary.  The project will be approximately 2-3 hours and please bring family members!  We will be planting native pollinator plants in the cottonwood grove, swale and at the pond shorelines.  This park has been recently renovated and is really a jewel in our community.  Please contact Lisa at if you are willing to help out with this project.  This is a cooperative project sponsored by us, the Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team, the Buffalo Grove Garden Club and Lake County Stormwater Management Commission and we would like to see as many volunteers as possible.  Will be fun and butterfly friendly!  -Martha and Jeff Weiss
