We will not be having a lunch meeting on June 30, and will be having our annual installation dinner for the new officers before our concert at Rotary Village Green Park. Details to follow.
The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove will be hosting its 2016 Craft Beer Festival on Thursday, June 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at County Line Tavern. This year's event has been amped up with exciting sampling opportunities from Lagunitas, Founders, Firestone Walker and Revolution Brewing. In addition, we will have craft apps prepared by County Line, all in the warm ambience of their new restaurant. This is a great opportunity for you to showcase the great work our Rotary club does to a friend, neighbor or prospective member. Tickets are $35.
Please see Rob Seitz or Dane Bragg if you have not gotten your tickets yet. We also have tickets available online at the following address:
You can also use this link for social media posts and it will optimize for mobile devices and such. Please note that there is a ticket surcharge for credit card purchases made through TicketLeap. There is no surcharge for face-to-face sales of paper tickets. County Line also has tickets available for purchase at the restaurant.
Please see Dane or Rob if you want printed flyers.
Otherwise, sell some beer tickets and we hope to see you at this year's Craft Beer Festival! #bethechange
Last week two of the students that went sponsored to attend the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) conference attended our meeting to tell us about the amazing experience it was. Fran, our exchange student from Chile, and Michelle from Stevenson High School, Jing's daughter who also went on the service trip to Guatemala, attended one of the two RYLA conferences offered to high school students in District 6440. Students attend the camp in East Troy, WI from Thursday night to Sunday morning and listen to motivational speakers, engage in team building games, make friends and learn about leadership skills. Every year our club includes the scholarships for students to attend RYLA and they are always very grateful for the experience. We sponsored an additional student, Maxene, from Stevenson High School who went to Guatemala with our club, but was not able to attend our club meeting.
We international visitors! Mr. Janendra Nath Gosh, Rotarian from Salt Lake, Kolkata, India visited us and exchanged banners with President Aaron. Stephen brought the parents of their past exchange student, Lydia from Germany, who are picture below with Jeannette, Stephen's lovely wife.
Our exchange student, Fran, will be here in our community for 11 months and we asked her what she would like to do or see, because it seems that the exchange year goes very quickly. Here is what she said
"Thank you for asking me about it, I know that maybe I won't do all of those things, but if I can do some them would be amazing"
