Last Week's Speaker
Last week our guests included District Governor Elect Lyle Staab, a member of the Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods.  He urged us to attend the District Conference, held jointly with District 6420 April 24-25 at the Schaumburg Hyatt Regency, 1800 East Golf Road.  Rob reminded us that traditionally members of our club have attended the Paul Harris luncheon on the first day of the conference (Friday) and he will be distributing a sign-up sheet at our meetings.
Also at our meeting were Bill Morris, Founder, and Raul Guzman, BG Plant Operations Manager, of BlueStarRecyclers.  Bill explained the history of his 501c3 and said its mission is recycling electronics and other materials to create local jobs for people with autism and other disAbilities.  Founders and senior leaders of Blue Star Recyclers and Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF) launched the first Blue Star Recyclers facility outside Colorado in November here in Buffalo Grove.  They have a strong Rotary connection and Suzanne Lyhus, a  member of the Glenview Sunrise Rotary Club told us about how Rotary is supporting BlueStar.
