This week our speaker is Linda Hall from Connect to Community, one of our grant recipients.

During last week's meeting, Joan quizzed us about significant April events during Fun 'N Frolics.  One of our newer members, Arzu gave her classification speech and shared some almond and honey Turkish delight with us.  Arzu was born and raised in Istanbul, graduated from medical school and worked as a medical manager.  She has lived here in the U.S. since 2019 and now works as a research analyst on the topic of race, gender, socioeconomic disparities for people with aortic stenosis.  Arzu shared photos of typical tourist spots in Turkey.  We are happy to have Arzu as a member of our club!

Five members of our club (Shawn, Deenie, Martha, Santosh and Juliet) attended the joint 6440/6450 Rotary District Conference on Saturday at RI headquarters and learned about what our districts are doing to encourage more youth involvement, more diversity in our clubs, more services and understanding of metal health issues, fundraising ideas and other topics.  The House of Friendship contained booths about many efforts that clubs are engaging in and offered time for fellowship and networking.  The reception at the conclusion of the conference was held on the floor where the RI president's office is located and here are a couple of photos of three of our members who attended.  Also pictured is the interview with Meg Kissinger, an author who writes about the U.S. mental health system.

Look for an upcoming email about ordering BG Rotary apparel.  The online store will be open until May 20th and club members can order and pay for items online.  There will be no delivery charge because Martha will pick up the items and distribute them at our meetings.

Kingswood Church is collecting spring and summer clothing for their thrift store. Items can be dropped off at the church where there is a collection bin inside of the church.

Trivia Night will be held Thursday April 25 6 p.m. Mickey Finn's Brewery, Libertyville. The cost is $50.00 per person with buffet dinner included cash bar. Call Deenie, she is setting up team tables!
