A tribute to Mark Gibson, a dedicated Rotarian and environmentalist!

Mark was a Rotarian who lived the motto "service above self." I got to know Mark when he recruited me as a volunteer for District 6440's new Environmental Committee that he was organizing, something he was passionate about.  Mark was a great net-worker. Whenever he met someone, he asked them about their interests and how he could connect them with others who shared the same concerns and who took actions to address them.
He was an active member of ESRAG, Rotary's international environmental action group, where he joined the initiative Plastic Solutions.  With his encouragement, our Rotary club organized the showing of a documentary regarding plastic pollution for the public on Earth Day last year. Mark was a speaker at the event and he produced informational posters highlighting important facts about this problem.  Mark volunteered for our club's environmental projects and was always ready to help any club with theirs.  He also shared his passion for sailing with the Environmental Committee, getting the committee together so that we would get to know each other after COVID. That day was memorable.  His commitment to Rotary ideals and his dedication to  making this world a better place will be missed.
