On Tuesday, November 28, the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle presented Keeneyville Elementary School District 20 with 81 new winter coats for needy families. “Igniting the power and potential of students is truly a community effort and for those children in need, we are very lucky to have such a caring service organization like the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle,” said Dr. Michael Connolly, District 20 superintendent. The donation was organized by Rotarian, Jenny Yockey from Friendly Ford Inc. in Roselle. Working with Stratford Square Mall personnel and Carson’s store managers, Yockey secured a monetary donation and a discount on the coats. The remaining balance was paid for by the Rotary. “Their work and the support of Carson’s and Stratford Square Mall is helping to make it easier to ensure all of our students have what they need to come to school ready to learn,” added Connolly. “We deeply thank Rotary for their generosity.” Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle was founded in 1997 and is part of Rotary International, a global network with the motto, Service Above Self. With over 35,000 clubs nationwide, the service club works to make a difference in local communities and beyond.
