The many International projects that the BBRC had/is involved in are demonstrations of the significant value of the International Grants AND the importance of inter-club collaboration and reciprocal support.  The majority of the projects relate to Health, Sanitation, Education – especially girls’, and Safety.  They are large scale and aligned with the RI Areas of Focus, and, most importantly, sustainable.  Over approximately nine years more than $1.5M has been donated to these causes – this includes $30K BBRC dollars.

Sustainability is key, and comes from the early involvement of the local community in identifying their needs/ priorities.  The communities remain engaged in providing measurable results and reporting.

The RI grant process is very involved and detailed, understandable given the amount of investments needed.  Our Club is fortunate to have access to Narayan Murarka’s experience and dedication in this area.

As we work to complete a variety of projects, we see some of the following results:

10 Mechanical Cows installed for children’s nutritional needs (Guatemala)

23 of the 46 planned WASH stations installed in schools (Guatemala)

Donations to distant COVID 19 first responders

Upgraded kitchen (Antigua)

All of these efforts contribute to the health of children supporting their attendance at school and their education.
