Actively Engaging Fathers in the Education of Children
School-Based Fatherhood Assessments - Research indicates when both parents are involved in the education of their child(ren) educational outcomes soar and many of the issues holding children back and societal ills decline or disappear. IFI would like to have every Illinois school conduct a School-Based Fatherhood Assessment and then develop an action plan for creating greater father involvement. IFI needs your help to reach the school(s) in your neighborhood. Million Father March - Calling all dads with school age children, please plan to accompany your child to school on the first day. Better yet, help your local school participate in the Million Father March.

IFI Talks Mentoring Program - Special thanks to those who participated in the IFI Talks Mentoring pilot program this past spring at St. Malachy Catholic School. IFI was able to gather some valuable information and is now in the process of recruiting mentors - young (college age) and old - to volunteer for one hour, once a week to mentor three young boys, starting as early as third grade. This time-tested mentoring program provides invaluable life and character development to fatherless youth. A note to prospective volunteers: No Evenings, No Weekends, and No Financial Commitment. Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) - is an in-school volunteer program that provides fathers and grandfathers with the opportunity to volunteer one day a year. IFI is actively seeking opportunities to expand this very successful program that engaged more than 200,000 dads in more than 4,700 schools.
