July was a month of inspiration and connection at our Rotary meetings, as every speaker came from within our own club. This unique lineup showcased the depth and diversity of experiences among our members.
Dave Weiner and Joe Musolino kicked things off with an engaging recount of their dream golf trip to St. Andrews, where they participated in the Rotary Club of St. Andrews Golf Tournament. This annual fellowship event gave them the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the legendary course and connect with Rotarians from around the world.
Later in the month, Brian Ahern shared highlights from his recent service trip to Guatemala with the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. He visited several WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects, including one supported by a global grant that our club helped fund. Brian described the experience as truly life-changing and encouraged fellow members to consider going on a service trip if given the chance.
We also had the pleasure of getting to know three of our newer Rotarians through their “Getting to Know You” presentations.
Greg Zyck, a lifelong Chicagoland resident and 30-year Arlington Heights local, impressed us with his longstanding commitment to civic service, from the PTA , Boy Scouts and coaching to the Library Board and his new Village Trustee role. ,
Christina Yolich added a fun twist to her talk with a trivia game that revealed her dedication to at-risk youth and her entrepreneurial spirit through Summit Designs Group.
Finally, Honore YoYo shared his journey from the Ivory Coast to the U.S., with academic stops in North Dakota and Ohio, and now pursuing an MBA at UIC. He joined Rotary to grow as a leader and give back to the community.
All in all, July reminded us that some of the most powerful stories and connections come from within our own club.
