Led by Rick Koebernick, the Foundation Committee provided an overview of how funds donated to the Rotary Foundation are used with a focus on projects and initiatives that have been specifically supported by our club.  Globally, we have funded ShelterBoxes to provide temporary housing to disaster victims, and funds for polio eradication.  Internationally,  we have funded HeatlhRays, a project that brings digital x-ray to remote areas of Guatemala, and been directly involved in many hands-on service projects in Guatemala and Peru.
On the local level, in addition to our annual grants to community programs, foundation dollars have funded hands-on service projects including packing thanksgiving baskets, and serving meals to veterans at the IMD Guest House, stocking the Wheeling Food Pantry.
While our Club is very charitable in aggregate, Rick and the committee would like to see us do more.  Specifically one of their goals is to have Every club member donate at least $ 25 to the Foundation this year.  Donations can be made through the weekly green envelope happy fines, or directly through Rotary.org.  For questions about the logistics of donating contact Rick Koebernick or Bill Kmiecik.
