WEEK 46 FOUNDATION MINUTE – CHOICES FOR DDF

At the end of each Rotary year, clubs in District 6440 refocus their attention to planning for the year ahead – with incoming officers busy reading their new job descriptions and learning their new roles. Club Foundation Chairs and community service committees are finalizing plans for funding the humanitarian service projects, their scholarships and the small international grants they want to pursue, writing and submitting their applications for the 2020-2021 District grants.

With this future focus, its easy to forget that most clubs end each year with half of their District Designated Fund (DDF) allocation, that reserved for global grants, being unused. On July 1st, the DDF availability is reset for clubs to allocate among the various global grant projects underway in the next year. Many clubs haven’t fully exhausted THIS YEAR’S DDF – with many clubs having availability to pledge their current year portion to a global project needing funding.

At the June Grants Committee Meeting, applications for all new District Grants, CoVid-19 grants and proposed DDF allocations for projects to be used next year can be presented and approved. Check to see if your club is interested in participating in one of the projects (DDF and a matching cash donation will be required). Expanding your club’s Rotary Footprint beyond your local community may open doors for more such projects in your club’s future.
