The Guest Speaker at our weekly Rotary meeting of March 10,2015 was Peter Kuntz, Vice President of Development at Orchard Village.

Peter joined Orchard Village in fall 2012 for the purpose of securing more private funding in order to allow it to provide the optimum of care, quality and services promised in its mission statement. He has worked in the nonprofit arena since 2002, following two decades in the advertising agency arena.

Orchard Village is a Skokie-based 501(c)3 organization that empowers individuals with developmental challenges to achieve fulfilling, integrated lives in their community. Orchard Village, Founded in 1972 provides the following four services:

  1. Residential: Helps people with developmental disabilities to realize their dream to live in a “real” neighborhood home in the community.
  2. Vocational: Facilitates client desire for a competitive, wage-paying job in the community.
  3. In-Home: Support families who are providing, in their own homes, ongoing care for a loved one with a developmental disability.
  4. Transition: Via Orchard Academy, prepares young adults (17 thru 21) with a variety of challenges for independent adult life by the teaching vocational, social and living skills necessary for success.
Orchard Village serves approximately 300 individuals/families each year, most located in Chicago’s north and northwest suburbs. A significant portion of its annual revenue ($6.5 million) is funded by the State of Illinois through its Department of Human Services.
