Guest Speaker Joe Flint - Senior Development Officer of The Cradle in Evanston
At our August 4 meeting guest speaker Joe Flint, Senior Development Officer of The Cradle in Evanston spoke to the club about the inner workings of his organization.
The Cradle in Evanston was established in Evanston in 1923, The Cradle is one of the oldest and most reputable child and family welfare agencies offering adoption services in the country. It remains a private, nonsectarian, not-for-profit organization that is licensed by the State of Illinois and accredited by the Council on Accreditation. The Cradle has placed more than 15,000 children with loving adoptive families in its 92-year history.
Cradle services do not end with a placement. Its mission is to benefit children and all others touched by adoption—by compassionately delivering exceptional education, guidance and lifelong support to build, sustain and preserve nurturing families.
The Cradle provides ethical, compassionate services to expectant parents, babies, adoptive families and adoptees. It is the only adoption agency in the U.S. to operate an onsite, 24-hour newborn nursery for waiting infants. Every baby entrusted to The Cradle – whether healthy or medically fragile – receives the finest care possible until they go home with a family. All services for expectant parents, including use of The Cradle Nursery, are provided free of charge and with no obligation to complete an adoption plan.
Prospective adoptive parents receive best-in-class education both in person and through The Cradle’s online educational resource, AdoptionLearningPartners.org. The Sayers Center for African American Adoption at The Cradle finds permanent, loving homes for black and biracial babies. The Center for Lifelong Adoption Support provides counseling and other services for birth and adoptive parents, adopted persons and families as they live, learn and grow.
