Tuesday was a treat with Tenson Mangwinyana speaking about the Zimbabwe Rotary club of Victoria Falls. I had an opportunity to talk with him afterwards. There are a lot of challenges in his country as you may guess. One thing that is wildly different from here that he did not discuss much is the ability the government gives preachers to address students in public schools. He even trains teachers on how to discuss various morality issues to students. If any one wants to check in with him his email is tmangwinyana@yahoo.com.
In our next meeting, Robert Worley will be presenting. He is head of The Alliance which encourages business development for our county. I am sure he will have lots of great information to share.
We are picking up a lot of new members. Lets keep this going! Get out there and introduce your self to them so they know they are welcome to our club. The new members are:
Obinna Ononobi (Obi), Manager of Operations and Marketing, Altus
Cindy Inman, the Office manager for Walter Branson ( working for Walter, we know she will need encouragement!)
Chris Gilkison, Financial Planner for Edward Jones
Fred Cordes, Semi Retired, former business owner, SCUBA instructor
Tomas Perez, General Manager for Bobby Ford (former Rotarian)
Dearle (pronounced Darrell) Marrs, General Manager for Restwood (former Rotarian)
I will be needing mentors for these. If you would like to be one get with me. As you might guess, I ain’t afraid to “voluntell” if I am short volunteers.
We also need to congratulate Norm Wood for being selected citizen of the year. What an honor. Also Jason Wadley was selected to the Hall of Fame in his industry. This too is a huge honor. We are proud to have them both as members.
