River Of Hope

In 2006, the Brazosport Ministerial Alliance brought local Christian congregations together to address homelessness and to promote self-sufficiency within the Brazosport community.

Thanks to their efforts, River of Hope, Inc. opened its doors in June 2007 as a 501(c )3 non-profit and begin assisting Brazosport residents in financial crisis with rent and utility shortfalls.    Funding was through the benevolence of member congregations.  The value of working in close partnership with the community was first demonstrated in the assistance of over 100 families following the 2008 disaster known as Hurricane Katrina.

Today River of Hope collaborates on a regular basis with other organizations, including United Way of Brazoria County, Salvation Army, and the Society of Saint Stephen. In addition to monetary assistance, River of Hope refers clients to other needed resources (food, medical, employment), offers financial counseling, and shares smart strategies for managing resources to promote self-sufficiency.  In partnership with and through the generosity of congregations, individuals, businesses, and grants, River of Hope has assisted hundreds of individuals and families, keeping them in their homes with the lights on.
