The Mental Health Crisis in the USA; Child and Adolescent Mental Health Since the Pandemic

Dr. Debra Atkisson, MD PCC, is a board certified psychiatris and one of the nation's leading child and adolecent psychiatrists. She has served in leadership roles in Texas psychiatry, and currently is the President of the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as a Representative to the American Psychiatric Association from Texas. A fifth-generation Texan, Dr. Atkisson graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. She completed a general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka. She is passionate about serving as an advocate for patients’ mental health as well as educating the public and fellow physicians about the many ways we can all help improve the mental health of our patients. She was formerly a professor at the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University. Prior to that she spent 24 years in private practice. She received her doctor of medicine from Texas Tech University in 1986 and her doctor of psychiatry from the Menninger School of Psychiatry at Texas Tech in 1991.
