Our fellow Rotarian Wally Lonergan passed away on Monday, August 27th at a local care center. Wally had been a member of our club for 30 years and was a faculty member in the business department of the College of Idaho for at least that long. Wally had that slow smooth smile greet you when you walked in the door at Rotary. He and his wife Luise reviewed applicants for selection in our scholarship program and participated in other aspects of our club. In 2016, Wally was honored as our Rotarian of the Year for his quiet dedicated service.
Wally, along with his wife Luise and Chuck McHugh co-founded The Idaho Diaper Bank, distributing 20,000 diapers in its first 10 months of its operation starting with only $5,000 of initial grant funding. He received the College's Half Century Life Achievement Award in 2000 and the Alumni Service Award in 2013.
Services will be September 13th at 1pm at St. David Episcopal Church (where he has been a priest), 1800 Arlington, Caldwell.
