During our February 8th Rotary Club meeting, Marianne Barker honored our club by awarding 11 of our members with their first Paul Harris Fellow Awards. In 2010 our club was the first club in our district to lead the way to make our club an "All Paul Harris Club," by awarding Club Recognition Points to any member that had not yet received their first Paul Harris award.
This year is a special year as District 5400 is celebrating its 100 year birthday. Since we again had enough Club Recognition Points built up at The Rotary Foundation, we were able to give enough points to members not having their first Paul Harris Fellow to make that award to them.
A member receives a Paul Harris Fellow award when they have earned 1,000 recognition point, either with their contributions alone, or combined with awarded recognition points from individuals, or totally given using someone's or the club's transfer of recognition points they have available.
The Rotary Foundation is the vehicle that supports worldwide causes through donations from clubs all over the world to improve the conditions of humanity through health, education and projects funded by Rotary. This is comes back to our clubs with matching fund programs for local projects. It's a Win-Win!
