Interact Student Jason DeGregory helps out at the Rotary Wagon at this year's New Years Junkanoo parade. Each year the Rotary Club Of Freeport puts the Wagon out at Junkanoo and serves up its famous' cotton candy and other delights. All the funds collected go into it's charity account and support community service projects such as the YMCA in Freeport, the Young Men's Training Association (YMTA) in Lewis Yard and the Beacon School, as well as it's scholarship programme which supports students attending the Collage Of the Bahamas.

Mike Stafford, President of the Freeport Club describes Rotary as a global network of community volunteers. Rotary Members are business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Some 31,000 Rotary Clubs in more then 165 countries carry out service projects in their local communities and abroad to address such critical issues as poverty, health, hunger, illiteracy, and the environment. Rotary's flagship program and focus is the worldwide eradication of the Polio Virus which cripples children.  Polio has not been reported in the Bahamas since the 70s and through Rotary's commitment the Virus is only left in four countries of the world - Pakistan, India, Angola and Niger. Some day, very soon thanks to Rotary, the world will be Polio Free!
