Speaker:  Our speaker was President Jack Hardy, who gave us an overview of his trip to Hamburg, Germany for the annual Rotary International Conference.  There were 28,000 Rotary members at the conference and the RI experience made a lasting impression for all in attendance. Jack shared how the conference was a great reminder of all the good that Rotary does around the world and provide us with some of the highlights of his travels and friends he made along the way.
Announcements:  Always a highlight for any Rotary meeting, we welcomed Jennifer Marsh as a new member to our club.  Our Rotarian of the week was Mark Olsen.  Born in San Luis Obispo and growing up in Arroyo Grande, Mark was our club president for the 2010-2011 year.  He is a banker who now works for Mechanics Bank (formerly Rabobank). He and his wife Amanda have 3 children.  Jenny Dierck asked for volunteers to work on a community project at Shell Beach Elementary School on Saturday October 5, 2019.
Anya announced that October 24 has been designated Global Polio Day by Rotary International and reminded us that all donations towards that cause ware matched by Bill and Melinda Gates.
Recognitions: John Traversaro was recognized for his 75th birthday. His spin on the wheel landed him on #16 which designated that Joel Conn at Pismo Beach Veterinary Clinic would pay John's fine of $40. President Jack Hardy was fined $40 for forgetting to recognize Marcia Traversaro as a guest. Paul Holden was fined $25 in recognition of his wife's birthday: Shannon Bowdey was recognized for her 5 year club anniversary and her wheel spin indicated a fine of $20: Lee Ann Liscombe also had a club anniversary (6 years) and her spin cost her $40; others fined by our fine Fine Master Mark Olsen, included Deenie Dotson, Sharon Ellis, Don Weber, Scott Astrosky, Linda Osty and Eric Mund.
