Here’s a recap from this week’s Pismo Beach Five Cities Rotary Club meeting: Guest Speaker – Matt Bronson, City Manager, Grover Beach • West Grand Avenue streetscape complete — $7M project with bike lanes, landscaping, and storm drainage improvements • Measure K14 progress: street conditions significantly improved since 2014; two-thirds of streets now rated excellent or good • Next K14 project (North 9th Street) approved by council; construction begins in June • 5 street projects remain by 2030; last one needs additional funding due to rising construction costs • Sewer system upgrades underway, funded through sewer rate increases • Ramona Garden Park renovation ($4M) — ribbon-cutting June 11th; includes new playground, stage, and amphitheater (funded by grants and impact fees, not general tax dollars) • Hotel updates: project near Oxford Suites delayed but expected to open by year-end; Grover Beach Lodge (150 rooms, near train station) under state review — city to receive ~70% of TOT revenue • Citizen initiative on building heights heading to Council review, possibly November ballot Guest Speaker – Little Pink House of Hope (Dawn Walker & Kathy Gates) • Provides free retreats for breast cancer patients and their families • Has served over 50 local families through community donations Upcoming Events & Volunteer Opportunities • Friday: Staff appreciation BBQ at Aurora Grande Community Hospital for 440 employees — setup team at 7am, food prep at 9am, wear Rotary shirts (Perry bringing aprons and 5 tables) • Thursday: Lumina Thrift Drive, 3–6pm at 1401 Dollar — Central Coast Moving transporting items • May 26: Oceano Community Center event — register on ClubRunner (shifts 11:30–12:30 or 1–2pm   May 28  AGHS band concert at the Clark Center ($10), 7PM.   Meet in lobby at 6:45PM • June 2: Holiday Rock vocational tour, 11am–noon, lunch to follow • June 3: Joint board meeting at Curry Ranch, 6pm — please register • Watch for emails on the Judkins end-of-year celebration / 8th grade Boomers chaperoning  Reminder • Come to next week’s meeting prepared to nominate a non-profit for community giving and speak to your nomination.
