Announcements

• Board meeting Wednesday, 7/8, night at Keller Williams, hosted by Sharon Ellis

• District monthly Zoom meeting Tuesday, 7/7, at 5:30/6:00 PM — let Anya know if you didn’t get the invite

• Next week’s (7/14) speaker: Jon van der Berg, Soccer Coach, talking soccer and FIFA (tournament semifinals week)

Summer Sizzle Fundraiser — August 15

• Our main fundraiser of the year — goal is 250 tickets sold

• Tickets are QR code/online only now (no more paper tickets); new flyers with logo + QR codes available to grab on your way out

• Each member: bring 2 bottles of wine (min. $25 retail each) — John Traversaro coordinating

• Each member: donate a silent auction item worth $100+ (or two items at $200 total) — Ashlea coordinating

• Todd/Joel available to help with sponsorships

42nd Anniversary Celebration

• Charter issued March 30, 1984; three charter members shared memories of the early days

• Club started in 1985 with 25 members at McClintock’s,  John Murphy as first president

• In 1987, the club was first to hit $500/member for Polio Plus at the district conference, raising $16,000 via the “Tar Springs” event

• Gallery of all past presidents now live on the website

Guest Speaker — Jean Steele: “Happy People Win”

• Focused on kindness, gratitude, and service as paths to happiness

• Shared stories from growing up in Ethiopia and living with chronic migraines

• Practical tips: start each day positively, seek meaningful experiences over material things, practice compassion through volunteering/mentoring
