Project Pajamas is the brainchild of Santa Cruz Rotarian, Ari Symons, and has been an annual campaign of the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary club. In 2022 we are, once again, raising money and asking for donations.

The 2022 drive was a success. We donated 986 pairs of pajamas to needy children around Santa Cruz County! Thanks to everyone who donated and volunteered.
The goal of Project Pajamas is to provide a new pair of PJ's to every child in a homeless shelter or other form of emergency housing in Santa Cruz County.
Children leave their homes when their parents are in distress, perhaps with a mother who is fleeing a batterer, or an addicted parent who seeks treatment. Or, perhaps they simply do not have a home at all. They often come to the shelters with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Whatever the cause of the distress, it is not the child's fault nor under their control. It must be very scary to spend nights in an unknown place. Project Pajamas believes that if the child is given a new pair of pajamas their very first night, they may feel a little warmer and safer and perhaps will sleep better.
To date, in 2022, the Club has raised over $1,600 which has enabled us to purchase over 170 pajamas for the cause. We can use more.

Those who want to help Project pajamas with packaging and distribution are asked to come to Twin Lakes Church in Aptos at 9:a.m. on Saturday, October 22. Please bring a few boxes of gallon plastic bags and a sharpie. We will spend time packaging the pajamas in bags, marking the size and gender on the outside. Then we will gather them up according to the groups that will be receiving them. After that, people will deliver them to the recipients. You can participate in one or all of those projects. We are low on volunteers, so please consider coming on October 22nd.
