Interact
Interact:
What is Interact? Interact is the High School version of Rotary
Santa Cruz Sunrise sponsors the Santa Cruz High Interact Club
It runs just like Rotary. There are weekly meetings run by a President. There is a vice president, treasurer etc.
They do fundraising for community service.
There is a District, and District Council/Officers
They use the 4 Way Test
The plan is that they learn leadership, potentially Segway to become Rotaract members in college, and become future Rotarians. If not that, they learn about community service.
Rotary District 5170 has the largest presence of Interact in the world.
There are 13 Areas
133 Clubs
And 6,000-ish members
There is a “Fall Leadership Conference” called FLC at Independence High School.
There is a President’s Leadership training for the following year (similar to Rotary’s PETS), that is called POWER or PWR that is held in February.
The Rotary Club that sponsors Interact is asked to:
- Help fund the students to attend FLC and POWER
- Have a Chair from the Rotary Club to assist the students with their meetings and help guide them
- Invite the students to attend Rotary meetings to see how the Rotary meetings are run and for the Interact students to present their activities, fundraisers etc to the Rotarians to ask for help and fundraising.
