Rotary Youth Exchange Santa Cruz Sunrise
Our club has a long history of hosting Rotary Youth Exchange students, both long term and occasionally short term. This is an amazing program that provides opportunity for high school aged students to experience and learn a different culture and language to create world peace and understanding (one person at a time).
What are the requirements of our Club and of the Club Youth Exchange Counselor?
Club:
The club is responsible to Host an inbound student (which normally means we are also sponsoring an outbound student, but that is not required).
Hosting an inbound students means:
- The club officers sign a “commitment form” that says we commit to hosting for the year.
- The club commits to spending $150 per month (currently) as a stipend to the student for the months they are living here in the United States. This is normally 10 months for long term exchanges
- The club commits to providing a Rotary Counselor to the student and to provide a safe supportive environment for the student while on exchange.
Being a Rotary Youth Exchange Counselor means:
- Being both Rotary Youth training certified and Rotary Youth Exchange certified.
- Meeting with the student no less than 1 time per month (in person, via phone or via electronic medium) and completing an online form attesting to the meeting.
- Meeting with the host family no less than 1 time per month (in person, via phone or via electronic medium) and completing an online form attesting to the meeting.
- Bringing the student to a Rotary Meeting a minimum of 1 time per month
- Bringing the student to Rotary events.
