International Update. Peggy Pollard shared the final report from the Lhuhwahwa Model Village Water and Sanitation improvement global grant project. The lives of 1,600 people in the area have been bettered because of this project that delivered improved water and sanitation. Our second global grant continuing this life changing project has been approved and work has begun. Our project trip to Uganda is planned for spring/summer 2023.
Supporting Youth - Faris Sabbah and Maria Barranco previewed the launch of the Community Resilience Campaign. It's a joint effort between the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, local school districts, public health, Monarch Services, United Way, and Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance. Speaker David T. Lee, Assistant Professor of Computational Media at UCSC. His research centers around integrating design, algorithms, and incentives to develop novel ways for integrating experiential, passion-driven learning with supporting governments and nonprofits in organizing community members towards addressing complex, societal issues. His talk was about "exploring, asking, and speculating"
