Reveille Announcement

If you're interested in connecting all our members and ensureing that everyone is staying informed, then being an editor of the Reveille might be the right gig for you. We are looking for one or more people that would like to take over the publishing of this publication in January. What it looks like, how often it's published, what gets covered will be in your hands. If you're interested and would like to know more, contact Steve Landau or Penni Bengtson.

Last Week

Last week we had the pleasure of not one, but two bio presentations. Deb Dutra kicked things off with her Red Badge bio, followed by Rick Hofstetter with his Gold Badge bio (not silver and not grey, though many past presidents are).

Deb leads an active life with a priority on her family. In her words, she is "thankful, grateful and blessed." From biking to pickleball, and family to Rotary, Deb is engaged and living life. Watch her bio to see some fun photos and to hear about her careers from media ad sales to Synergy Learning Systems. She co-founded Synergy Learning Systems to help create healthy work environments through team and leadership training.

Rick Hofstetter has been a member of our club for 33-years - about half his life. Born and raised in Palo Alto, Rick went to Cal which cemented the families Cal-Stanford rivalry and on to a career in banking.

Rotary has played an important part in his life. The most impactful part of Rotary for Rick has been "things that he did not plan." Listen to his story about how unplanned, unexpected things that have happened in his and his family's life because of Rotary, and the support that Rotarians have offered him is inspiring.

International
Peggy Pollard shared a video and the story of how our contributions are helping the Kajwenge School in Kasese, Uganda work toward providing food for students. The challenge was to identify a way for the funds to be used for a sustainable program rather than one time funds for food that couldn't be renewed. The answer is to grow their own food at the school for students' mid-day meals. A small portion of the funds will be used to buy food for the short-term and the balance to support their efforts to grow their own food. Watch the video at the end of meeting recording.
