The following wise and moving words from the heart were authored by Winston Whittaker.   In preface, Winston shares that, "this message, from the office of the club's Vocational Services Comittee chairman, is for my fellow Rotarians, parents and those professionals who will offer Career Panel's mentorship, job shadowing, role model examples to our children this year."
 

From Winston to his children, and perhaps to those important to each of us:

Loving vibrations for your having a wonderful day. I felt the need this morning to send you my love in writing, and communicate some fatherly care and advise.

 

Applause to your beauty, talents, and ambitions! Please apply your strengths! Be careful!

 

Today, the news continues with the schoolmates who would recklessly endanger others.

 

The time in College is a valuable, precious time! You must take full advantage of this training for the future, time in your life. Think! Think clearly! There are tons of research, information which surrounds you. The tools you need, often the weapons you need to fight your battles are right there in the battle field. Attention to details are important! Re-evaluate constantly, keeping a watchful eye to safeguard for making study, work-study programs exceed the distractions and their hype!

 

Please consider in your choices, decisions, that the people around you do not always have your best interests in mind.

 

Often, they are affected by their own bad habits, drugs, marijuana, alcoholism, in denial, on which they depend, clouding their judgement, decisions, and sometimes cause the need to put someone else down, in order to superficially build up themselves!

 

Often, their own selfish agenda drowns out the ability to consider anyone, anything, outside of themselves!

 

Saying no to those people who cannot take care of themselves, for they cannot possibly take care of you either! 

 

Safety First! Fun Second!

 

Your future, and success period, should be more important than any petty moment in partying time! Prioritize, prepare yourselves for making a positive, valued contribution, uplifting the lives of people, your community, and life!

 

Parental care includes, but is not limited to food and money. Have fun! Loads of Love, dad.
