Red Badge Biographies

Dave Campbell grew up in Berkeley in the "good 'ole days" when kids still walked to school (pre-minivan?).   He attended Robert Louis Stevenson High School in Pebble Beach (all boys at that time, not now) and futilely sought companionship with the pre-nuns of nearby Santa Catalina School (all-girls then, and now).  No wonder he wound up studying Psychology at Cal and working in the applied discipline of "Industrial Psychology." 

Later, Dave went to the Texas Medical Center to complete his Ph.D.  Enjoying the academic lifestyle, he took an appointment at U of Kansas in "Ecological Psychology" working with architects assisting in thoughtful designs for the elderly, among other realms.

Dave married his wife Toni in 1971 and is currently a Professor of Psychology at Humboldt State.  He and Toni make their home here in Soquel.

Bruce Christopher married Christy Hertzberg in 1983.  They have 3 lovely daughters, two of whom are at Georgiana Bruce Kirby HS: their youngest, Susan, is a Junior and Abby is the Athletic Director.

Bruce was born in Iowa during the worst snowstorm on record. Welcome to the world!  His family moved to Phoenix where he remained through HS. After attending Cal Lutheran U. in SoCal in the '70's he began a career at IBM (he was 370 guy, in case you're wondering).  He moved up through the ranks at big blue eventually leaving to join HP.  Thereafter he went on to do a couple of start-ups.  

In 2000, Bruce fulfilled a long-standing dream when he became head coach of the SCHS football team.  This lead to a major career shift in 2003 when Bruce moved into the world of non-profits and became Execute Director of Above the Line, a community based residential program serving at-risk children and teen girls.

Six months ago Bruce joined Community Bridges as Development Director.  Community Bridges is an umbrella organization providing administrative infrstructure, support, guidance and financial footing to a family of 7 non-profits serving children, the less fortunate and elderly in our community.  They are: Child and Adult Care Food Program, Child Development Programs,  Live Oak Family Resource Center, Lift Line, La Manzana Community Resources, Meals on Wheels and Women, Infants & Children's Nutrition Program.
