What a turnout!  Thanks to the tireless efforts of Peggy Alberti this year's Speech Contest was the best ever.  With 8 very well prepared contestants each presenting compelling speeches, it was a morning to remember.

The judges: Bill Fitler, Romney Dunbar and Brian Campbell, and time keepers John Caldwell and Tom Knott, kept the pace up.  And drawing upon the wisdom of King Solomon they did a phenomenal job of choosing among the terrific contestants.

All of the students did a wonderful of job conceiving and presenting their speechs. They each captured the essence of this year's Rotary Theme: Rotary Pride: Make Dreams Real and deftly included a reference to the 4-way test.

Although they are all winners in the categories of bravery, confidence, daring to dream, risk taking and poise, there can be only one moves on to the next level of competion for Area 7.  Third place went to Michael LaPage (SCHS); second to McKenzie Caborn (Mt. Madonna) and first place went to returning speaker Kaila Hattis (Harbor HS).

The entire roster of speakers were (from left to right): Kaila Hattis, Keith Henderson (President), Michael LaPage, Cesar Enriquez (SCHS),  McKenzie Caborn, Francesca Lopez (SCHS), Sarah Thomas (SCHS), Marielena Montesino (SCHS), Yesenia Chavez (SCHS) and Peggy Alberti (Speech Contest coordinator).
