Poland Rotary Club welcomed our Chili Open recipient organizations for a luncheon and check presentation recognizing the impact they continue to make across our community.

Through the support of our sponsors, volunteers, participants, and community partners, the Chili Open and the Night at the Races continues to provide meaningful support to organizations dedicated to serving others.

It is an honor for Poland Rotary to play a small role in helping these organizations continue their important work and create lasting impact throughout our region. Thank you to everyone who contributes to making these events successful year after year.

We were joined by Ashley Zembower, President-Elect of the Poland Women’s Junior Club, who shared an inspiring update on the impact their organization continues to make. Through their efforts, they are creating lasting memories and meaningful experiences for children and families throughout our community.

We are grateful for Ashley’s leadership and the club’s ongoing commitment to making a difference.
Rotarians and volunteers came together to proudly place flags throughout our community.

Our Fly the Flag program is more than a patriotic tradition — it is an investment in the future of the Poland community. Proceeds from the program help support important local initiatives, including scholarships for high school students.

Thank you to everyone who volunteers, participates, and supports this program each year. Your continued commitment helps create lasting opportunities for the next generation.
We’re proud to support our community by donating three American flags to our township municipality.

A small gesture that reflects our continued commitment to service, pride, and local partnership.

This week, we were joined by Mark Brungard, who shared the rich history of Brungard Farm and the legacy it continues to build. The story served as an important reminder of the value of stewardship—using our resources in a sustainable and responsible way to ensure future generations can continue to thrive.

Thank you for joining us and sharing your family’s story—we truly appreciate your time and insight.

We had the opportunity to hear from Kristen Taylor of the Abilities Unite Foundation of the Mahoning Valley—and the impact is remarkable.

The organization has:

• Created inclusive community experiences for thousands

• Provided critical grants for individuals facing unexpected hardships

• Supported access to adaptive equipment, education, and therapeutic opportunities

At its core, their mission is simple but powerful: bring people together to celebrate abilities, promote inclusion, and build a stronger community for all.

That message resonated deeply with our members—and serves as a reminder of the role we all play in creating opportunities for others.

Thank you, Kristen, for sharing your work and for making a lasting difference in the Mahoning Valley.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Michael B. Ross, a consultant focused on helping organizations strengthen their leadership.

Michael shared an impactful message on improving our daily lives by identifying our PVD:

Purpose. Vision. Disciplines.

He challenged us to be intentional in how we lead ourselves first—aligning our purpose, clearly defining our vision, and committing to the discipline needed to achieve it.

Thank you, Michael, for an inspiring and practical conversation that our members can carry forward both personally and professionally.

We’re grateful for the continued support that helps us bring meaningful discussions like this to our community.
Supporting small businesses strengthens our entire community.

This week we were joined by Madison Southern and Katie Jacobson from Valley Economic Development Partners, who shared how their organization helps drive regional economic growth through flexible lending and business development resources.

As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), their team provides financial education, technical assistance, and access to capital to help entrepreneurs—especially in underserved communities—start and grow successful businesses.

Thank you to Madison, Katie, and the entire Valley Economic Development Partners team for the important work you do to support local businesses and strengthen our region.

We were honored to host Tammye Hardin from Inspiring Minds Youngstown as our speaker.

Tammye provided insight into how their organization supports k-12 students through academic enrichment, mentorship, and leadership development — ensuring students are prepared for success after high school graduation.

Their structured, long-term approach to youth development is creating measurable impact in our community, and we appreciate the opportunity to learn more about their mission and results.

Thank you, Tammye, for sharing your work and for investing in the next generation of leaders.

Because of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, members, and community supporters, this year’s event was another tremendous success.

For over 40 years, the Chili Open has brought our community together for fellowship, fun, and fundraising. That impact continues because of YOU.

To our title and corporate sponsors, beverage and food sponsors, raffle donors, and every business that said “yes” to supporting this event — thank you for believing in our mission.

To everyone who came out to enjoy the weather, purchased tickets, donated raffle items, volunteered or simply helped spread the word — we are grateful.

We can’t wait to do it again next year.
We’re proud to promote our upcoming Flag Program — a meaningful way to celebrate patriotism while supporting impactful community initiatives.

Participants receive American flag placement at their home or business during from Memorial day to Veterans Day. Proceeds from this program are used to support local youth, community and international Rotary projects.

For returning participants, invoices will be sent out soon for the upcoming season. We sincerely appreciate your continued commitment to this program.
