"Edith Tea, Rotary Grant Ambassador Scholar" - Zoom Mtg
Time in Amsterdam as a Rotary Grant Scholar
Her presentation will give an overview of her time in Amsterdam as a Rotary Grant Scholar. She will expand on why she decided to study Hydrology, the content of her studies, her activities and the development of her journey here as a Rotary scholar. She will also talk about her future plans.
Tea graduated from Gettysburg College in 2019 where she majored in Physics and Spanish. That same year she became a Rotary Grant Ambassador Scholar, which allowed her to pursuit her studies abroad. She attended Vrije University Amsterdam to obtain a Masters in Hydrology. She is currently in her last 5 months of studying for this degree. During her time in Amsterdam she has been working for World Waternet as an intern in the Dji Don project.
After her studies she plans to accept a position at Weather Impact as a project manager.

Wheels and Wings Festival & 5K is back!
This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 24, at Lancaster Airport. We plan accordingly to follow whatever CDC guidelines are in place for outdoor events at that time.
Our schedule starts with the 5K at 7:30 am. We will run the course through the Brethren Village Campus with chip timing provided from Second Wind.
Next, our Car Show and Fly-in will begin at 9 am and will conclude by 2 pm.
We will have several Food Trucks and concessions along with Live Music. After judging, trophies will be presented to the winners.
This is now our Club's ONLY major fundraiser and community event of the year. The proceeds benefit the Summer Youth Experience and all our Club's other service programs at home and globally. We hope everyone will do their part to make it a success.
And here is what can you do to help.
Save the date and plan to volunteer on Saturday, July 24. We will need volunteers from 6AM until 4 PM the day of the event.
Help us secure sponsors or become one yourself. Event sponsorships are the key to making Wheels and Wings a success financially. In the next day or two, you will be receiving an email with information about sponsorship levels and the impact a sponsorship has on Lancaster youth. We ask you to forward that information to your business contacts, vendors, friends, and people who owe you favors. Please consider becoming a sponsor yourself.

A Message Regarding Returning to Physical Meetings
Fellow Rotarians,
They say that patience is a virtue, but sometimes it takes way too long. We have received many emails and inquiries as a Board asking when we will return to our physical meetings to the Farm & Home Center. While we are all anxious to get back to a bit of normalcy, it is important that we keep everyone safe. The Board is continuing to evaluate the risk level in our area.
According to CovidActNow.org, the risk level in Lancaster County stands at High Risk with 23 new cases per 100K people, positive test rate of 6.6 %, 76% ICU capacity in use and only 20.3% of the population vaccinated as of March 23rd.
The vaccination site at Park City Center is ramping up, currently utilizing about 50% of their capacity by design with the intention of being at full capacity in the next few weeks. By that point, 6,000 people a day will be getting vaccinated. This will begin to dramatically improve the risk level in Lancaster County. The Board continues to assess the positivity rate and other pertinent details to determine when it is safe to return.
Please be patient just a little longer.

Joys & Concerns
Joy from Bob McClenathan: My second grandchild was born this morning August 3 at 3:19am. Mom and baby are fine. Grandparents are super.
Concern from Jess May: Per latest CDC guidance, people in areas reporting “substantial” transmission rates, which includes Lancaster County, are urged to again wear masks indoors regardless of their vaccination status.
Joy from President Rob: After Rob ran over a screwdriver, he was able to make it to a shop to get the tire repaired.
Joy from Kathy Hainley: For the first time since the pandemic started, Kathy will fly to California to see her grandson. She is returning on August 14.
