This past week we received an amazing donation from the Witbeck Family Foundation, which learned about the work of Lancaster Rotary from Bob McClenathan. The Witbecks want their contribution to help fund the Summer Youth Experience, polio immunization programs, or another international project. Their support guarantees that we will meet our SYE funding commitment. The Witbeck Family Foundation sent us a check for $25,000 for this year and pledged another $10,000 - $12,000 toward next year's SYE program. Wow! We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Witbeck Family Foundation for this incredible gift.

The new dues structure remains in place. However, any member may request a 3-month leave of absence. Dues will be $122 for this three-month period.
Sandra Orndorff spoke on Treatment for Substance Abuse
The toll of substance abuse – now diagnosed as substance use disorder – is devastating to families and costly to the nation. For last week’s speaker Sandra Orndorff, her new career in coaching for families facing substance abuse problems started when her own family faced this issue. She sought help and discovered the Enneagram system of identifying personality types, including one’s own, and understanding how they interact with each other and impact relationships. After finding the program very helpful, she became a certified family recovery specialist. Today she offers her services as a professional coach to other families facing the trauma of substance abuse.

The annual economic impact of substance misuse is estimated to be $249 billion for alcohol and $193 billion for illicit drug misuse according to the U.S. Surgeon General.
Diagnosis of depression tripled from February 2020 to August 2020.
Only 10% of substance disorder cases actually seek or enter treatment!
Addiction is not a disease of moral failing. However the body doesn't know this!
The largest two sectors of growth in substance use disorder are in youth and the aging.
The Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung stated "The greatest and most important problems of life are all fundamentally insoluble. They can never be solved but only outgrown.
Addiction and mental illness are both diseases that impact the mind, body, and spirt. They not only drain those that suffer but also those that support them.
We are selling Mister Carwash tickets at the upcoming club meetings, as well as at the Wheels, Wings & 5K. The club will receive 50% of the selling price of each carwash ticket. Carwash tickets can be purchased for:
$30.00 for Interior Clean (wash, wheel cleaner, interior vacuum and clean)
$20.00 for Platinum Exterior (wash, wheel polish, HotShine wax, repel shield, tire shine, under body wash)
$10.00 for Base Exterior (wash and wheel cleaner)
Bruce Wolff will have the tickets in the back of the room during club meetings and he will be hosting a tent at Wheels, Wings & 5K. Members are welcome to sign-out tickets they can sell to their friends, family, co-workers, but they are responsible to return either the tickets unsold or the money for the tickets to Bruce Wolff by June 30.

Rotary Rendezvous meets June 28!
Rotary Rendezvous has become a highlight of RCL business and social gatherings, and a fun event for current and potential new members. Anyone who is interested in joining our committee, looking for fellowship, or simply a night out, please join us for Rotary Rendezvous on Wednesday, June 28, at Southern Market in Lancaster. Parking is available at the Steinman garage or folks can find side street parking.
Rotary Rendezvous meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
Arrive anytime between 5-5:30pm for drinks and fellowship.
REMINDER: Share Your Program Ideas! We welcome interesting speakers, and engaging programs.
Our Club is always looking for ideas to add to the list of potential programs. If you have any ideas for programs, please contact Christine Sable (sableccim@gmail.com) or another member of the Meeting Planning Committee or any Board member, who will pass them along. Both live and virtual (Zoom) speakers are welcome.
The programs the Lancaster Rotary Club offers are important for our club and, with your help and participation, have often been truly phenomenal.

Joy: The Community Committee reported the Power Packs program packed 2,553 Power Packs containing over 26,000 pounds of food. This program addresses food insecurity by providing food and nutritional information for the weekend to students in the School District of Lancaster's school lunch program.
Concern: President Russ was home with a sick son. We wish his son a quick recovery.
