History of Hamilton Watch
Introduced by Wally Otto
Ryan recently opened the Hamilton Store in Lancaster. He will tell stories of Hamilton Watch in Lancaster and experiences he has had since opening the store.
Hamilton, the famous watchmaker which was founded in Lancaster in 1892, is returning to its roots. Hamilton was known as the Cadillac of watchmakers. The company left Lancaster in 1969.
Based in Switzerland, it is opening its only store in America at the former Bowman Technical School Building in Lancaster next week.
Ryan Miller, president of Brent Miller Jewelers, bought the Bowman Building in April. He wanted to preserve a piece of Lancaster's history which closed in 1992. Then he found a tenant.
Ryan started his career in the jewelry industry by working alongside his Mother at Brent L. Miller Jewelers in 2006. During this time he attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where he received his certification in Diamond grading, Colored stone grading & Pearl grading. In 2009, Ryan moved to New York City to learn from what he believed was the best in the industry, Tiffany & Co.
During his two years working in Tiffany & Co’s flagship store on 5th Ave, Ryan was ranked in the top 25 sales performers for the entire company, before being promoted to Assistant Sales Manager. In 2011, Ryan rejoined his Mother at Brent L. Miller Jewelers.
Ryan graduated from Fox School of Business at Temple University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was raised in Lancaster, PA and continues to make Lancaster County his home. He volunteers his time working with multiple community organizations & outreach programs. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his daughter Winnie and golfing.
