Did you know the top industries in Lancaster County? Or the workforce makeup of Lancaster County? Heather Valudes, President & CEO of the Lancaster Chamber, will share information on the business community, workforce statistics, issues facing our community, and approaches and solutions to meet changing and evolving business and workforce needs.
Heather Valudes became the President & CEO of The Lancaster Chamber in June 2022, having previously been the Vice President. She joined the Chamber in 2011 as the Advocacy Director with a focus on government affairs and community impact. Since that time, she has continued to advance that work while also leading events and programs strategy and engaging in the overall operations and strategic direction of the organization.
Prior to joining the Chamber, Valudes was the Government Affairs Coordinator at the Building Industry Association. Valudes graduated from West Chester University in 2007 with a degree in Political Science and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from West Chester University. She earned her Certified Chamber Executive designation in 2021, was named a 40 Under 40 by the Central Penn Business Journal and the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, and is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Lancaster. She is a member of the Paradise Township Lions Club and is involved with the Girl Scouts.

Past President Wally Otto initiated and moderated the first RCL Judicial Primary Election Forum, attended by very engaged RCL members, guests and news media.

president of the Lancaster Bar who is rated Highly Recommended by the
Association is current chair of LBA's Lancaster Bar Association despite not being
Judiciary Committee. endorsed by the Republican committee.
Jeff Ouellet provided an in-depth explanation of the process his committee follows to evaluate candidates for the local bench before making their recommendations. He explained that based on appraisals by fellow attorneys, the 800+ LBA members vote to rate judicial candidates as Highly Recommended, Recommended, or Not Recommended.
There was a good turnout for the program and members were able to question leaders from the Lancaster Bar Association and Judge Karen Maisano on qualifications to serve on the bench of the Court of Common Pleas.

Rotary Rendezvous has become a highlight of RCL business and social gatherings, and a fun event for current and potential new members. Anyone who is interested in joining our committee, looking for fellowship, or simply a night out, please join us for Rotary Rendezvous on Wednesday, April 26, at Southern Market in Lancaster. Parking is available at the Steinman garage or folks can find side street parking.
Rotary Rendezvous meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
Arrive anytime between 5-5:30pm for drinks and fellowship.

Give Prepaid Lunch Tickets to Prospective New Members
This is a great way to invite new members! Crystal has "prepaid" lunch tickets that you can purchase and give to prospective new members when you invite them to a meeting. This way you don't have to worry about paying for their meal when they come or, for that matter, even being present when they come. If you bought "prepaid" lunch tickets for $16, you will need to add $2 to the ticket since lunches are now $18.
Jamie Alton announced that our Wheels and Wings Festival & 5K (WW5K) will feature WWII warbirds (vintage aircraft) from the Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.
Chip Kirchner announced that United Way has matched our increased commitment of $30,000 to the Summer Youth Partnership. Part of this commitment is to create a video of the Summer Youth Experience and will include video from the Wheels & Wings festival. Funded agencies are invited to ask their staff and youth who benefit from their services to walk the grounds to thank supporters. It’s not too early to reserve Saturday, June 24 for a day of Rotary volunteer service – and fun!
Our 2023 Wheels & Wings Festival & 5K Run (WW5K) will be Saturday, June 24, and there will be numerous opportunities for all RCL members to volunteer – including before the event. According to Steve Stockwell, who heads up the car show registrations, the subcommittee would like to distribute registration flyers to participants at selected car shows throughout Lancaster County and beyond in April, May, and early June. If you like going to car shows, or simply have some time to take a Saturday afternoon ride this spring, please consider volunteering to help spread the word about our own WW5K.
We will soon have a schedule of all the car shows in the area. Contact Steve or subcommittee co-chairs Amy Lewis or Jamie Dalton to join the effort. Future issues of the Transmitter will share the many other ways members can volunteer to support our big fundraiser.

Our Club is always looking for ideas to add to the list of potential programs.
