Per latest CDC guidance, people in areas reporting “Low” COVID-19 Community Levels such as Lancaster County are urged to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, to get tested if they have symptoms, and may choose to mask at any time. Less than 10 COVID-19 hospital admissions per 100,000 population is Low. Less than 10% of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients is Low.
Dr. Hollister was contracted as the Assistant Superintendent at Eastern Lancaster County School District in October of 2005 and was appointed Superintendent in June 2008. He recently retired as the longest serving Superintendent of all 22 districts in the Lancaster Lebanon Intermediate Unit (IU 13).
He currently served on the Board and Executive Committee of Leadership Lancaster and on the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) Board of Governors. As the former Past-President and recent David A. Portlock Outstanding International Educator Award recipient, he stayed active in the Pennsylvania Council for International Education (PaCIE). In 2019 he was appointed by the Governor and unanimously approved by the State Senate as a member of the Commonwealth Standards and Practices Commission.
Dr. Hollister is a husband and a father of two young ladies who currently attend public schools.
Dr. Hollister was born in Lancaster County and raised near the village of Silver Springs. Following high school graduation from Lancaster Catholic High School, he remained in the County and attended Millersville University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in the field of Industrial Technology and received the Department’s Philadelphia Alumni Award for a graduating Senior. In 1988, Dr. Hollister began his career serving as a technology education teacher in Boyertown Area School District. While teaching, he earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Villanova University and his Principal’s Certification from Lehigh University. After serving as the Assistant Principal for two years in Pennridge School District, he accepted a position as Principal at Kutztown Area Junior High School, Berks County, where he served for several years. Dr. Hollister subsequently served as Principal at Milford Middle School in the Quakertown Community School District, Bucks County for six years.
Dr. Hollister earned his Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in 2003. His research analyzed a large sample of schools in Pennsylvania assessing the need for and promise of mass customized learning practices in the public school sector.

In-person meetings began March 2 at the Farm & Home Center. As usual, lunch is available at 11:50 AM or earlier and social time (which we all are looking forward to), continues until 12:30 PM when we begin the meeting.
A message from President Rob: As we all are aware, prices are increasing in everything we see and use. All of the restaurants and catering businesses continue to feel losses. At this time, we will continue to support the local caterers from the community. Having said that, we are increasing the prices for our lunches. To meet the demands of the catering businesses and to allocate part of the lunch money to the Farm & Home Center, it is necessary to have this increase. Effective March 9th and going forward, our lunches for the weekly meetings will cost $16.00. We have not increased our lunch prices since 2017. We have been extremely fortunate to have been provided the lunches over the years for $14.00.
The Club is not requiring the wearing of masks, but it is up to you if you want to wear one.
When attending the in-person meetings, we ask that you use common sense and consider all safety precautions regarding a healthy environment as you see fit..
We will continue to have hand sanitizers throughout the room at the Farm & Home Center
The Club will continue to offer a Zoom option for our regular meetings.

Rotary Rendezvous meeting March 23
As a reminder, Rotary Rendezvous is BACK IN PERSON! Thanks to all who supported us at the last event. It was great to see so many faces. Please join us again on Wednesday, March 23rd. Details will be announced
The Rotary Rendezvous format is to arrive anytime between 5-5:30pm for Happy Hour, and dinner follows. We hope to see you there!
Wheels, Wings & 5K Committee Announces Date: June 25
The Wheels, Wings, & 5K Committee meetings will be on the 16th and 23rd. Signup sheets are available at meetings, or call Jamie. Volunteers are being solicited for all positions. Please join them to make our Club's signature community event and fundraiser a roaring success this year. Now they need volunteers to 1) collect items for grab bags and the raffle, 2)do marketing at car shows, 3) develop online registration for vendors and attendees, 4) develop the 4K, and 5) seek sponsorships. M
Lancaster Rotary has honored those in our community who have dedicated their lives to community service through our annual Community Service award, as well as three students from the Lancaster City high schools that have done the same. This year, in addition to those awards, we are expanding our reach with a different kind of awardee--an every day hero.
Each month, Lancaster Rotary will honor service stars in our community--ordinary people in our Lancaster community who are going above and beyond every day in their work. The past year and a half has been difficult for so many people in Lancaster and we hope to honor those who have been shining brightest--a nurse who helped you get your vaccine, a neighbor who has delivered food for those in need, a grocery store cashier who makes your smile every time you visit. Awardees will receive a gift card and recognition from Rotary of their contribution to our community.
Lancaster Rotarians have been volunteering for Power Packs for children in the School District of Lancaster (Washington Elementary and Reynolds Middle School) for years. The last couple of years we have been very short on volunteers.
COVID has changed the role of a volunteer and reduced time commitments.
In this environment, we are looking for volunteers to pick up boxes of food at the Power Packs warehouse and deliver to Washington and Reynolds on Wednesdays at 10:30AM. The whole pick up and delivery takes about an hour and you can definitely make the Rotary meeting afterwards. Mid-size or larger SUVs and vans would be ideal, but if we can assemble some two vehicle teams we can split the loads. There is a physical aspect to loading and unloading the boxes, but if needed we can get help from the warehouse and schools.
Volunteers do not have to commit to every week. The coordinator sends an email the month prior asking for availability of volunteer and creates a schedule accordingly.
Please consider serving in this worthwhile program.
In the near future, members credit card processing will be available for payments of lunches, dues, etc.
