On August 12, Union Community Care hosted the Day of Healing at Long’s Park even as Lancaster County was bracing as cases of CO-VID 19 continue to rise throughout the country. Community health care provider Union Community Care, organized the event to kick off a year of healing for the Lancaster community, including its front-line health care workers who have worked nonstop during the pandemic, said Jackie Concepcion, the vice president of impact for Union Community Care. The Day of Healing was to bring together the community to honor the many lives lost to COVID 19, the healthcare heroes who sacrificed so much and the community champions that supported the efforts. “Together we heal!!” The event featured music, spoken word, guest speakers, free vaccinations, and a solemn moment with the lighting of candles and luminaries to honor the memories of those lost to COVID-19.
With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit healthcare, Jackie Concepcion has been squarely rooted in community service, and believes universal change begins with one person at a time. Her personal mission is to be a catalyst for change as it relates to accessible, affordable, and equitable healthcare for every family member, friend, and neighbor in our communities.
Jackie has lived and worked in the Lancaster community for over 30 years. She holds a Master’s Degree from Lincoln University and is a graduate of the Lancaster County Community Foundation’s Baldwin Leadership Program. Jackie currently lives in West Lampeter Lancaster County.
