One of the Rotary objectives is to promote "the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and  peace through a world fellowship 0f ...persons united in the ideal of service. Our Rotary club is fortunate to have an Interact Club at SHS where these ideals can be planted, much like the Peace Pole we have installed at the front of the School.
The presentation was held on the International Day of Peace September 21, 2022.  The ceremony included a dedication speech by our Rotary president, Amany Messieha Dgheim, as well as oral presentations by students from the Interact Club & the Model UN Club. Other students made individually decorated pinwheels which are a symbol of joy & optimism. The ceremony was attended by fellow Rotarians DG Larry Palant, Dr. P. Erik Gundersen, Angus and Amy MacKenzie and Mark Dollman.
The words "May Peace Prevail on Earth" is printed on each side of the pole in eight languages that are spoken among citizens of our local community.  These words are the simple international prayer for peace which was authored by Masahise Goi of Japan in 1955. His message & philosophies for peace has spread  and in approximately 1976 the Peace Pole Project was created and has grown. The mission of the International Peace Project is as follows:

The Power of Thought
Thought forms create an energetic field strong enough
to empower the course of planetary destiny.

The Power of Words
Words carry vibrations strong enough to inspire, heal and transform  the human heart as well as the Kingdom of plants, animals and all creation.

The Power of May Peace Prevail On Earth
May Peace Prevail On Earth is an all inclusive message.
It is a meeting place of the heart, bringing together people of all faiths, backgrounds and cultures to embrace the Oneness of our planetary family.

Our Mission is Simple
To spread the Universal Message of Peace, May Peace Prevail On Earth, far and wide to embrace the lands and people of this Earth.
