"Service above self" is the mission statement for Rotarians alike. It can be said The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley serves the community at large.
 
By working in partnership with the regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, local human service agencies, and the food industry, the Food Bank serves to alleviate the pain of hunger for thousands of needy community members and serves to prevent waste of wholesome food. Jessica Bell, Special Events Coordinator, spoke to the Rhinebeck Rotary Club last week to discuss some of their upcoming events: September 10th â€"Annual Dinner at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie from 5:30-8:30 pm. The event is a business mixer to honor the United Way of Dutchess County and Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun. Tickets are $65 per person. September 24thâ€"Dine to Feedâ€"Join the Food Bank of Hudson Valley and dine out at your favorite restaurant to fight hunger in your community. Participating restaurants will donate 10% of their proceeds for this day to the Food Bank. October 10thâ€"Walk to Fight Hungerâ€"the Food Bank invites one and all to Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Pearl River for a fun family event that raises funds and awareness of the hunger issue in our area. The Rhinebeck Rotary Club meets on Mondays at noon at the Beekman Arms for those interested in participating in this and other service-oriented projects.
