Wallkill East Rotary hosted 90 members of Region 5.

It was a full house at Perkins in the Town of Wallkill for the Region 5 meeting. It was a night to reflect on the closing Rotary year, anticipate the success of the incoming leaders and celebrate the visit of the Group Study Exchange team from Taiwan.
Representing the Middletown Club were Karen and Bob FitzPatrick, PDG Pete Lazier, Dr. Parida, Paul Halpern, Allen Zoghby and Karen Miller. We were happy to have Aaron Bloomfield, Minisink Rotary, join our table.
Many happy dollars were given for Allen Zoghby and Tracy Baxter who were nominated by Region 5 for outstanding Rotarian and non-Rotarian of the year. The District honoree will be announced at the conference this weekend. We're rooting for Allen and Tracy.
Outgoing ADG Nick Constantino also brought in the happy dollars in appreciation for his two years in this position. He is moving on to a district role. Barry Foster, Livingston Manor Rotary, will step into the ADG position for Region 5. He's well respected and well liked in the region, so we look for great things from him. Of course, Phil Schunk will take on the position of District Governor and we look forward to him joining us at our own installation dinner on June 11 at Catlin Gardens.
The GSE team members gave a great presentation and were impressive with their command of the English language. It's obvious that they are having the time of their lives on this trip and charming every American they meet.
Local educator extradinaire Bill Bassett will be named Incoming District Governor for 2012 - 2013 at the upcoming conference. He'll be terrific!
Thank you to Wallkill East Rotary, President Frank Giannino and committee chair Lauren Rowley for arranging this gathering of dedicated Rotarians tonight. Great job!
