PDG Drew Kessler’s last action as DG was to electrify the Top Hat Dinner crowd with an announcement: The 64 Rotary clubs in our Rotary District 7210 -- the NYS counties of Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan & Ulster -- altogether gave over ONE MILLION DOLLARS to their communities. That’s big news!

We should shout this from the rooftops, from the front pages of area newspapers and through bullhorns at community meetings, “$1,000,00.00!”

This doesn’t include Foundation giving, donations to communities outside our District, international projects or anything else. This is simply what we gave locally. Gifts came in the form of checks for new winter coats for kids (Operation Warm) food pantries, scholarships, local organizations and activities, Interact club, RYLA, dictionaries and library books -- just to name the basics! The million dollars benefited people in our own back yards.

The needs are great. So is our commitment. Drew's announcement came with a "Million Dollar Award" from Drew for all 1700 Rotarians in the District, “Presented to District 7210 with sincere appreciation for your outstanding dedication of service to the Hudson Valley.”
