Peoria North Rotary Club members Rebecca Wilks and Bret McKeand took part in the El Tour de Tucson Bike Ride on Nov. 20, participating in the 28-mile "Ride to End Polio." Rebecca and Bret were joined by Bret's wife, Michelle, to help raise funds for Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio. The annual Ride to End Polio has been part of the Tucson bike ride for several years. Started by District 5500, the Ride to End Polio attracts Rotarians from throughout the nation and has generated millions of dollars to benefit Rotary's Polio Plus campaign. Rebecca finished the 28 miles in roughly 2.5 hours, while Bret and Michelle finished in a little over three hours. There were approximately 900 riders participating in the 28-mile ride. |
