The Rotary Club of Peterborough hosted 22 Scottish Rotarians from Nov 7-9.Our club is one of 22 Rotary clubs that are hosting the 2008 Scotland to Canada Team on this biannual Rotary Curling Tour,which this year started on Oct 31 in Montreal & concludes on Nov 23 in Kitchener .In Nov 1956 the 1st team of Canadian Rotarians curled in Scotland and in 1960 the decision was made to conduct a tour every 2 years, alternating between Canada & Scotland.At each city the curlers from Scotland stay in the homes of Rotarians from the host club.All participants enjoyed the curling & Rotary fellowship this past weekend. The Scots arrived from Kingston Friday Nov 7 at the Peterboough Curling Club (PCC) where lunch was served followed by the 1st draw from 2:00 - 4:00. The teams were piped in & 5 sheets were in play. Friday evening the curlers met at Riley's for a night of billiards.The 2nd draw was played Sat afternoon at the PCC from 1-3. Jim & Wendy Coyle hosted a house party for the curlers & their hosts which included 70 people!The Scots departed from Peterborough early Sunday morning for Meaford.See Photos for more highlites from this weekend where we had this unique opportunity to meet new friends from Scotland.
