On January 21, 2014 the Rotary Club of Penetanguishene convened for their weekly meeting at La Cle d'la Baie in Penetanguishene http://www.lacle.ca/.
The Club welcomed the students and their teachers from Penetanguishene Secondary School, the Student of the Month recipient's for December and January are Tim Monague and Laura Wood.
Grade 10 Student Tim Monague was introduced by Drama Teacher Betony Main who spoke of Tim being as an active member of the Drama Club and had the lead role with the School Remembrance Day Celebration. Tim is a mentor to his peers and treats everyone with kindness. Although the voyage to school from Christian Island is long, he rarely misses school and aims for a near perfect attendance record. Tim is a true pleasure to teach.
Also from Penetanguishene Secondary School (PSS) is Laura Wood. Laura was introduced to the club by French Teacher Deanna Bastarache. She was the co-founder of the P.S.S. Girls Club and assists with the Book Club. She also had the starring role in the school production of "Humbug High". Laura participates in public speaking at school events and is an active member of the Students' Council. She is an extaordinaire student with a strong work ethic and desire to speak better french than Joey Tribbani of Friends.
From Ecole Secondaire LeCaron, the Student of the Month recipient's are Benoit Chin and Emily Robillard. Grade 12 student Emily Robillard was presented by science teacher Danielle Cook who described her as being a very humble but successful student who has high expectations of herself. She is also a very competitive sports minded student.
Grade 12 student Benoit Chin was recognized by French Teacher Paul Laforest as a student who is always willing and positive regardless of his endeavour. He is a member of Student Council and is a competitive skier and hockey player
The students will also be recognized by MP Bruce Stanton and MPP Garfield Dunlop for their achievements.
The Club thanked the teachers for introducing their very talented students to the club and wish the students well in their future endeavors
