Presentation By "The Guesthouse"

On October 29, 2013 the Rotary Club of Penetanguishene convened for their weekly meeting at La Cle d'la Baie in Penetanguishene http://www.lacle.ca/.

The Club was treated to a thoughtfilled presentation on Homeless, Not Hopeless activities and new direction of The Guesthouse Shelter, formerly known as "Midland Out Of The Cold". Tom Kayser, who is the (volunteer) Capital Campaign Director, explained that the Guesthouse Shelter is all about helping the homeless by providing them emergency shelter and with programs so they are not left in an environment of hopelessness. He went on to say that 20% of Canadians will experience a psychiatric illness during their lives and of those with chronic mental illness, 50% will be homeless at some point.

Currently, The Guesthouse has become a registered charity # 845435007RR0001 and is fundraising to renovate the second floor of Knox Presbyterian Church in Midland into a Permanent Emergency Shelter.
