Ms. Hanna Ahn, NEIU Archivist,  gave a presentation on a project concerning the Japanese American Redress Hearings to the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) hearings that were held at NEIU in September 1981.
The CWRIC was created in 1980 to investigate the constitutionality of Executive Order 9066, signed by President Franklin Roosevelt on February 19, 1942, an order that facially authorized the evacuation of all persons deemed a threat to national security from the West Coast and ultimately resulted in the mass removal and detention of more than 120,000 persons of Japanese descent during WWII.
